Souterrain opens its first live show of the year at The Strongrooms in Shoreditch and features a stellar line up of Dom McAllister, Ellie Hall and Latir (with his full band The Lions) plus Brighton producer Bevan on DJ duty. This special show on St. Patricks Day promises to be a great night of live music showcasing what the London emerging music scene has to offer. The show is free to all but there is also an option to buy a ‘tip’ ticket with a value of your choice which goes towards tipping the artists performing and keeps music nights like this alive. Get to know these cats here;
Dom McAllister is a young singer/songwriter raised in London. As a kid, his father introduced him to the music of Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin and Bob Marley, inspiring him to learn both the guitar and piano. Fast forward 10 years and he mixes the classic writing style of those legends with contemporary electronic influences like Jamie Woon and Disclosure.
He was discovered singing in the corridors of The Roundhouse in Camden by Raggamuffin co-founder Bless Beats (Wiley, Tinie Temph, Jess Glynne), and what Bless and business partner Jin Jin have been developing is a poised young singer – assured, talented and yet curiously humble, with a natural soul voice that has really connected with audiences on his UK and European tours.
Line Of Best Fit blog describes Dom’ s sound as “sophisticated soul and unpredictable warps of upbeat electronica”. Whilst Clash Magazine says Dom “has got that effortless sense of soul that makes you wonder how he could ever do anything but sing”
Dom’ s first singles ‘ In Time’ & ‘ Walking’ have already received support from 1Xtra and there is plenty more to come this year.
With sweeping synths and driving bass riffs, Ellie Hall takes the traditional singer songwriter formula and blends catchy pop hooks with unique twists and turns, taking you on a whole new alternative pop journey.
With songs that tell tales of love, lust and the highs and lows of following your dreams, Ellie creates a sound both accessible and individual to set her apart.
Her uplifting, rich and yet sultry vocals together with her songwriting style has been likened to a mix of Jessie Ware, Ed Sheeran and Lianna La Havas.
